Gas Tank Size by VIN

Enter your 17-character VIN to find the year, make and model, then its tank size and fuel-system recalls.

On the driver's side of the dashboard (seen through the windshield), the door-jamb sticker, or your registration and insurance card.

How it works

Your VIN is decoded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's free vPIC service, which returns the model year, make, model and engine the manufacturer registered for it. We then match that to our listings and show the tank size for that model year, with a link to the trim-by-trim table.

The VIN goes straight from your browser to NHTSA. We don't store it.

Check recalls for the same VIN

NHTSA's recall lookup shows any open safety recall on your exact vehicle, including fuel pump and fuel tank recalls. Our fuel system recalls page lists them by make and model.
